I am a skin cancer and cosmetic doctor, based on Sydney's Northern Beaches, working at two leading clinics, Dee Why Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Clinic and Austin Clinic in Balgowlah.
As a skin cancer doctor accredited by the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, I perform a wide range of surgical procedures on the skin and am obsessively focused on achieving excellent results on the most cosmetically sensitive areas of the face, including nose, ears, eyelids and lips. I have trained in advanced skin surgery techniques using flaps and skin grafts by assisting a leading plastic surgeon on difficult cases in the operating theatre.
I also perform a range of non cancer-related skin surgery such as removing prominent moles and benign lumps, excising cysts and fatty lumps (lipomas), and revising unsightly scars.
My everyday work also involves full skin checks, biopsy of suspicious skin lesions and medically treating skin cancers where appropriate.
On the cosmetic side of my practice, I undertake facial rejuvenation work using cosmetic injectables to soften effects of ageing and sun damage. I also have a particular interest in treating acne and rosacea in teenagers and adults. I am a West Australian medical graduate who trained in paediatrics at New York University Medical Centre, gaining US paediatric board certification in 1987. I moved to Sydney in 1988.
On a personal note, I do a lot of cooking, eating and bush walking with my wonderful partner, who helps keep me grounded with mindfulness and kindness, and take great joy and inspiration from my two sons, who are so much wiser beyond their years than I was at their ages. I feel privileged my work provides opportunities for me to help people improve their quality of life, but also their outlook on life.
